Congratulations to all the Community Health Workers at Genesee Health Plan for winning the Mosley Team Award through Spectrum Health for Extraordinary Community Health Worker Service at the 13th Annual Community Health Worker Conference. CHWs play a critical role in supporting the Flint CEI’s four goals of increasing student attendance, increasing grade reading, increasing graduation rates, and increasing neighborhood impact. Key roles in community education filled by CHWs include: serving as success mentors to support students at risk of truancy and enrolling families into the Flint Registry, which supports those impacted by the Flint Water Crisis.
