RailRun 5K Brings 900 Participants, Sunny Skies, and Fast Miles to Downtown Fenton

The Crim Fitness Foundation held the RailRun 5K on Sunday, June 7, bringing nearly 900 registered participants to RailYard Fenton for a sunny day of running, walking, kids’ races, and community celebration.

Now in its second running, RailRun grew from a family fun run in 2026 into a full Crim Race Series event with event timing, finisher medals, participant shirts, age group awards, and a full post-race experience. The event more than doubled in size this year, making it the second-largest Crim Race Series event.

Participants took to a flat, fast 5K course through downtown Fenton, starting and finishing at RailYard Fenton. The day also included the Tiny Train Conductor Kid’s Races, with 1/4-mile and 1/2-mile distances for young participants.

After the race, participants and families gathered at RailYard for lawn games, vendors, food car specialties, coffee trucks, music, and more. Custom medals were designed to replicate the RailYard Food Cars and age group award winners received retro sweatbands, adding a playful touch to the race-day celebration.

The top finishers in the 5K run were Eddie Roberts of Davison, who won the overall male title in 18:31, and Leah Foley of Goodrich, who won the overall female title in 18:54.

In the 5K walk, Donald Jacot was the overall male winner in 44:18, and Susan Mora Fassett was the overall female winner in 39:34.

While RailYard Fenton was the official event host, the races would not have been possible without support from many local stakeholders including: Fenton Police, Fenton City Council, Fenton DPW, and many sponsors including Long Drink, INC Systems, Genesee Health System, and Universal Coating. Special thanks also go to Primary Prevention Physiotherapy and Patriot Ambulance for providing onsite participant care.

With strong participation, a welcoming host site, and a race-day atmosphere built for families and finishers alike, RailRun continued to grow as a memorable part of the Crim Race Series. Crim looks forward to building on this year’s momentum and welcoming runners, walkers, kids, families, and community supporters back to RailYard Fenton in the future.
