On Tuesday, May 26, Crim joined Communities First, Inc. and neighbors from across Flint for the free Levitt AMP Flint Music Series at Totem Books, bringing Crim’s Better Block community demonstration to the evening’s concert featuring Sons of Mystro.
Through temporary seating, shade, furniture, and community-focused installations, Crim’s Better Block pop-up helped transform the outdoor concert space into a more comfortable, vibrant, and welcoming place for people to gather. The demonstration was part of Crim’s ongoing work to reimagine streets, public spaces, and neighborhoods through real-world, community-centered activations that help residents experience what healthier, more people-centered places can look and feel like.
Crim’s Better Block initiative connects urban design, transportation, public health, and community connection. By starting small and showing ideas in place, these pop-ups invite neighbors to gather, share feedback, and build momentum for lasting improvements across Flint and Genesee County.
The Levitt AMP Flint Music Series continues every other Tuesday at Totem Books, located at 620 W. Court St. in Flint. Community members are invited to enjoy free live music, local food, resources, and Crim’s Better Block demonstration space throughout the summer.
