Crim Fitness Foundation to Lead the Russ Mawby Signature Service Project at Kearsley Park

Flint, MI – The Crim Fitness Foundation will host this region’s Russ Mawby Signature Service Project at Kearsley Park on May 15, 2026, from 9:00am – 5:00pm. The Crim Sports Corps is partnering with Keep Genesee County Beautiful, the Flint Watershed Coalition, Ann Arbor Climate Change Corps, and the Family Scholar House HealthCorps to execute the event.

Teams will aim to completely revitalize the area along Robert T. Longway by replanting 3,000 flowers in the garden space, clearing invasive species and debris from the treelines, and removing items dumped into the creek. This will ensure community members have safe access to the over one hundred year old park.

About Russ Mawby
Every year AmeriCorps Volunteers from across Michigan come together to celebrate the legacy of Russel ‘Russ’ Mawby, an academic and philanthropist who served as the chairman emeritus of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, who passed in 2017. While serving as the chair, Russ was instrumental in the formation of the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC). The event is held to honor and continue his commitment to service, volunteerism, and AmeriCorps.
