Charles Stewart Mott Foundation grants $50,000 to support Crim endowment

Flint, MI – As part of its centennial celebration honoring a century of giving in Flint and around the globe, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation has granted $50,000 to support the Crim Fitness Foundation’s newly formed endowment fund. As the Mott Foundation marks its milestone year, the Crim Fitness Foundation also is gearing up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic Festival of Races in 2027.

Director of External Relations, Brandon Morgan, said, “The upcoming 50th anniversary of the Festival of Races is a great opportunity for our foundation to acknowledge, not only the history and tradition of the races, but the deep ties they have to the community. Additionally, it is an opportunity for us to showcase the impact of our foundation’s work, which impacts the physical, social, and mental well-being of more than 20,000 residents annually. We are extremely grateful to the Mott Foundation for their continued commitment and support of our mission.”

The Crim’s endowment is intended to sustain the organization in future years and to safeguard important programs in youth sports, nutrition education, mental well-being, and more. As part of its support, the Mott Foundation also will adopt Mile 10 of the historic 10-mile course. With the Mott Foundation building sitting between the Crim’s start and finish lines, this is a meaningful symbol of Mott’s longtime support for the Crim Fitness Foundation.

Ridgway White, president and CEO of the Mott Foundation, said, “The Crim is so much more than a race. It’s a year-round force for health, connection and community well-being in Flint. As the Mott Foundation marks 100 years of working alongside this community, supporting the Crim’s endowment is a natural fit — it’s a chance to stand behind an organization that shows up for Flint every single day, and we’re proud to be part of its future.”
