Workshops and Courses

Thank you for your interest in the Crim Mindfulness Initiative Workshops and Courses. Please explore the trainings, workshops and courses offered below and contact us for more information if you would like to learn more. In addition to the offerings listed below, as time and funding allows, we enjoy customizing programs and presentations for conference workshops and keynote addresses.

Training/ Workshops:

A More Mindful Me:
Developing a Personal Mindfulness Practice Community members and educators are invited to engage in this experiential workshop to build a basic understanding of mindfulness, and understand how to create or strengthen personal practices to deal with stress in healthy, productive ways.

Playing Attention:
Sharing Mindfulness with Youth Participants are invited to learn mindfulness strategies and practices to share with youth of all ages. Attendance at the Crim Mindful Me workshop is recommended prior to attending this workshop.

Cost for public workshops:
$100 for the general public. Scholarships may be available for educators in Flint and Genesee County and residents of Flint.

Cost for customized workshops for your school, organization or business:

  • 2hr workshop: $25 per person per session
  • 4hr workshop: $50 per person per session
  • 8hr workshop: $100 per person per session

Informational Presentation:

Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Informational Presentation:
The ACE Informational Presentation is designed to support rapid dissemination of ACE and resilience science, and promote understanding and application of the science to improve health and wellbeing across the lifespan. The program is structured with licensed materials, designed by Dr. Robert Anda, co-founder of the CDC-Kaiser Permanente Adverse Childhood Experiences Study, and Laura Porter, former director of the Washington State Family Policy Council. These sessions will be held quarterly at the Crim Fitness Foundation and will last 45 minutes-1 hour. Please contact us if you would like to arrange for an agency side presentation. Free to Flint community members and organizations, donations welcome. These will be facilitated at the Crim Foundation, see our website for details.

Customized Keynote Presentations can be designed to align with specific themes or audiences.

Community Classes:

Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation:
All levels of yoga and mindfulness meditation practitioners are welcomed and encouraged. Whether you are looking for something to do with friends, a way to relax after work or class, stretch or build muscle strength - yoga and mindfulness meditation has something to offer everyone.

Cost for public community classes:
Free to be accessible to all. Donations welcome. If you are interested in a course at your school, business or organization, please reach out to us at mindfulness@crim.org

Training Programs:

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
This is an 8-week session of classes based on the acclaimed Stress Reduction Program founded in 19879 by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Research confirms the effectiveness of MBSR to treat a wide variety of concerns. Cost for the MBSR program is $350 per person. Limited partial scholarships may be available for Genesee County educators and Flint residents.

Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute (2-day workshop)
Developed at Google, by leading experts in neuroscience, business, and psychology, this training teaches practical mindful leadership and emotional intelligence tools to bring out your best. The training has been proven to: reduce stress, improve peak performance and strengthen interpersonal relationships. Cost: TBD

Yoga Ed. Training Institute (4-day)
Trainings are designed for individuals inspired to teach yoga to either Pre-K through Elementary age youth or teens. This training focuses on evidence-based physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga and completion of this 32hr training results in a certification for participants to teach yoga to youth. Cost for Yoga Ed. Training Institute is $650 per person. Limited partial scholarships may be available for Genesee County educators and Flint residents.

Additional Considerations:

Group Size: 8 person minimum; group rates may be available.
Support for Flint: Training fees cover the costs of training. Any additional revenue supports the heart of our work - to provide free mindfulness programming for youth and families in Flint.
