The Crim Fitness Foundation is dedicated to co-creating a more mindful, inclusive, equitable, and compassionate community. Today, one of the things we are mindful of connecting to in our community is honoring Pride Month.
As President Obama said in 2015, “All people deserve to live with dignity and respect, free from fear and violence, and protected against discrimination, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. During Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, we celebrate the proud legacy individuals have woven into the fabric of our Nation, we honor those who have fought to perfect our Union, and we continue our work to build a society where every child grows up knowing that their country supports them, is proud of them, and has a place for them exactly as they are. I call upon the people of the United States to eliminate prejudice everywhere it exists, and to celebrate the great diversity of the American people.”
We see June, and the other 11 months of the year, as a time to increase our awareness of the victories made to date in gender and sexual orientation equity, and also to take action to educate ourselves and find ways to address the challenges created by the continued inequality and discrimination that still exists today.
In that spirit, here are some of the local events and national resources our team is excited to support and share:
- Flint and Genesee County – Pride Celebration be delayed to October
- LGBTQ Pride Month Resources from Youth.Gov
- Inclusion Begins with “I” (3-minute video)
