Safe Routes to School

About

Since 2008, the Crim Fitness Foundation has partnered with the Michigan Fitness Foundation to improve safety for kids walking and biking to and from school through the Michigan Safe Routes to School program.

Activities

  • Advocate/seek funding for better sidewalks and crosswalks
  • Advocate/seek funding for improved lighting
  • Traffic calming
  • Install signage near schools
  • Pedestrian education
  • Bicycle education & events
  • Crossing guard support
  • School safety patrols
  • Youth engagement in urban planning
  • Youth lead creative storytelling
  • Ongoing advocacy at the local, state and federal level for Flint kids!
