Ginger Pears

Serves: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 pounds pears
  • 2 lemons grated
  • 1 thumb size piece ginger, very thin slices
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Cooking Preparation

  • 1. Boil sugar and water.
  • 2. Add lemon.
  • 3. While still boiling, add ginger.
  • 4. Peel and core pears.
  • 5. Drop pears in boiling liquid.
  • 6. Simmer for ½ hour.
  • 7. Serve pears chopped or sliced.
