In August of 1977, Michigan House Speaker Bobby Crim and his assistant Lois Craig launched the first Bobby Crim 10 Mile Road Race. Little did they know that they were embarking on a journey that would change the City of Flint forever! In the 35 years since those first days as a race organization, the Crim Fitness Foundation has evolved into a highly regarded 501(c) 3 non-profit organization impacting the lives of thousands.
The Crim Festival of Races Adult Training Program is a 15-week program, running from May through August, designed to not only provide opportunities for fun, social ways to be more physically active, but also to help runners and walkers train for and participate in the 5k, 8k, or 10 Mile Crim Festival of Races that takes place on the 4th Saturday of every August. The Crim Adult Training Program is modeled after the run/walk and walk/shuffle method utilized by former U.S. Olympian Jeff Galloway.
We are excited to welcome back old friends and meet new ones when the Crim Festival of Races Adult Training Program gets under way for 2012! Who can you invite to join you to tackle a new distance, meet new people, get outside, and make the choice for a healthy lifestyle? Many choose to join the program to improve their health and fitness, meet old friends and new people, improve their race time, or just to have fun. No previous running or walking experience is necessary to join the program. If you are an experienced walker or runner and are interested in becoming an Adult Training Program Group Leader, click here for a form you can download, fill out, and fax or email back to us (fax 810.235.5311, email laguirre@crim.org). We’ve also attached for your information and review a sample Group Leader Agreement (click here), which all of our volunteer Group Leaders sign before participating.

Genesee County Residents- Complete the 2011 Speak to Your Health!
Community Survey to be entered into a drawing for one of ten $50 gift
cards.
You are invited to participate in the Speak to Your Health Community
Survey. This is a survey being conducted by the Prevention Research
Center of Michigan and the Genesee County Health Department. The goals
of this project are to use survey data to compare county health
conditions with national and state health conditions, examine the impact
of health initiatives on community health, and promote change that
improves the health of Genesee County communities. All residents of
Genesee County who are at least 18 years old are eligible to
participate. The survey only takes about 25 minutes and asks about your
health, neighborhood, and personal experiences. The on-line survey is
secure and encrypted so third parties cannot see your data. Your
participation is voluntary; you may stop at any time or choose not to
answer any question without penalty. To start the survey click here.
